Recently Mashatu has increased in the size of the reserve. If this was an increase in size of similar vegetation type, then the news would not be impressive. However, the new “Tuli’ section of Mashatu incorporates some of the most exciting additions to the reserve one could imagine. The Tuli section meanders along the Limpopo River. Parallel to the river runs this sandstone Ridgeline of rocky outcrops that at times defies belief in how the rocks are arranged and placed. It is here that this safari now takes you into the heart of. Beautiful formations make for amazing landscape opportunities, but a speciality of this area is the possibility to see herds of elephant walking through the sandstone areas and in the evening, leopard!
This changes the dynamic completely and should we get a scene like this, it makes for pure magic images and experiences.
This safari will also take you to our regular parts of Mashatu at the tented camp, from where you will be able to visit the very famous Matebole photo hide. Each season this hide produces better and better sightings. Combining the Tuli and central game viewing areas of Mashatu together is a first for this region and provides an amazing safari and photographic experience. It is a combination of hides, sandstone ridges and the amazing wildlife photography that Mashatu always offers.
Shem Compion will be your host on the safari, along with Aubrey Tseleng- the resident photographer on the safari. Shem first visited Mashatu in 2005 and has returned multiple times each year. Between him and Aubrey, their experience and knowledge of the area means you will be hosted and guided by two of the most experienced photographers of the area. Expect to arrive at Mashatu and be tutored into taking and making better photographs than you ever imagined. This safari is limited to 6 participantsin two vehicles, meaning exclusive photo opportunities and space.
