Your Guide: Shem Compion
Group Size: Maximum 11 participants (Minimum 9 participants required)
Recommended for: Experienced travellers looking for new subject matter and authentic encounters. Photographers of all levels that are looking for very special photographic opportunities.
Fitness level: Average to Good - Photographers should have a reasonable level of mobility to enjoy the expedition fully. The ability to navigate uneven surfaces and get on and off the ship.

This will be C4 Photo Safaris 9th expedition to Svalbard. We have used our experience of past sightings, season and vessel to ensure that this trip is the best one yet. It is a photography - focused expedition with no fixed itinerary. If we encounter a good sighting, we will stay there as long as we like. Our “itinerary” is to find excellent wildlife sightings during your time on board and make sure you come home with amazing images.

Safari Highlights

Sail on the best ship in the Arctic for 10 nights, offering the ultimate opportunity for polar bear and Arctic photography.
Experience true Arctic exploration by entering fjords and areas inaccessible to larger vessels, thanks to the captain's knowledge and the vessel's capabilities.
Your group has the freedom to decide activities and duration, with no pressure to 'tick off' species or locations. Stay overnight for unique sightings if desired.
Benefit from the captain's 20 years of experience, allowing the vessel to enter thick pack ice and shallower waters.

Photography Highlights

Two Zodiacs with two guides each, offering an intimate experience with a maximum of 6 guests per Zodiac. More space for longer lenses and opportunities for stunning landscapes.
Maximize polar bear encounters on pack ice, with the ability to stay for prolonged periods. Most polar bear photography can be done from the deck of the ship.
Shem Compion will guide this tour. Shem has travelled the world in his quest for excellent wildlife and nature images. Svalbard has a special place for Shem and this will be his ninth expedition in these waters.
You will benefit from Shem’s knowledge and experience on this rather special expedition. As well as providing every assistance with your photography, there will be two experienced Arctic guides and naturalists who will help lead the group and assist with natural history talks; sharing their intimate knowledge of this wonderful wilderness.

This was an adventure so few have enjoyed with ,never to be forgotten wildlife in their own environment with magic light sky, ice-scapes from glaciers noisily diminishing to sea ice retreating as our boat forged through it, to perma-frost.
