Many people think they know the Masai Mara, but in reality they know only a small portion of the reserve. The Mara has so much to offer, it is a very diverse landscape with great specials on offer in each area.

C4 has been visiting many of these areas on our many years’ of visits to this great reserve and so we decided to combine the best aspects of the Mara into one ultimate safari experience. As such, this safari starts down on the Sand River, where not many people visit, but the black rock pride is probably the largest and most tightly knit pride in the whole Mara.

It is also here that the migration first crosses into Kenya across the Sand River and overall this scenic and wildlife rich area is under appreciated due to it being further away from the crossing areas. Our second location is Entim camp, which is a very well known entity to our clients. In the heart of the action, Entim offers access to many crossing points as well as excellent mara predator action. Lastly, the safari moves into one of the conservancies where here you will have exclusive access to the wildlife in the conservancy. Additionally, it allows night drives and star photography, an often under appreciated aspect of what is possible in the Masai Mara.

These three locations in the Mara offer you the ultimate way of seeing and photographing ALL of what the mara has to offer. It is a combination of our many years experience in this most wonderful piece of Africa to give you the ultimate safari.

Most importantly, we are using true Maasai driver guides that C4 has worked with for ten years. This relationship with the driver guides, who we have been instrumental in training, gives us an unequivocal advantage in finding the wildlife and positioning for you so that you are always prepared for the best image possible.

If you want the ultimate Mara experience, join us on this safari.

About your host, Darren Shaun Donovan
Darren spent his childhood glued to wildlife documentaries on television, and knew that a life in the bush was his calling. His passion of sharing that love of the natural world has kept burning since.
He started his career as a safari guide in South Africa’s Sabi Sands, where he specialised in birding and animal behaviour. After witnessing the most amazing sightings on his game drives with guests, he quickly realised that he was missing a camera. His photographic journey began with him being drawn to the unusual and artistic depiction of wildlife through photography. He believes in capturing the mood and emotion of a moment in time, and that keeps fuelling his passion. He constantly pushes the boundaries of what he knows and experiments with the unknown!
With 13 years of guiding in some of the top lodges and reserves in South Africa, Darren not only has the experience of hosting photographers, but also perfected his craft in teaching others to take their own amazing photographs through technical and artistic application. These include teaching guests the camera settings, designing the frame, and anticipating the moment that may be coming by watching the behaviour of the subject. These skills, enthusiasm and a profound professional respect for the bush has made him a sought-after bird and photography guide in the industry.
