ITINERARY

This safari will consist of an itinerary as such:

Day 1 -5

Meet and greet at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. An Airlink representative will take you to the scheduled flight (early afternoon) to Mala Mala. On arrival at the airstrip at Mala Mala you will be transferred to Mala Mala Main Camp for 4 nights stay.

Mala Mala Game Reserve lies strategically sandwiched between the Kruger National Park and the Sabi Sand Wildtuin. The unfenced borders between Mala Mala and the Kruger National Park on one side, and the Sabi Sand Wildtuin on the other allow animals to migrate unhindered to the perennial Sand River which flows north to south through Mala Mala for 20 kilometres (13 miles). This well-preserved wilderness is a “honey-pot” to the most sought-after wildlife species, as well as a host of smaller creatures. Mala Mala’s accommodation is discreet, classic and elegant African opulence.

Day 5 - 9

Mashatu Lodge, Botswana

After your last game drive and breakfast at Mala Mala you will be taken back to the airstrip for your flight transfer (midday) to Mashatu Game Reserve. A Mashatu representative will meet you at the airstrip and transfer you to Mashatu Lodge for your 4 nights stay.

Mashatu Game Reserve is a wholly preserved and untainted wilderness in eastern Botswana, at the confluence of the Limpopo and Shashe Rivers. The ample plains range from savannah, to riverine forests, marshland, and sandstone outcrops.

Mashatu, “Land of Giants” takes its name from the locally-sacrosanct Mashatu tree and the giants that roam the terrain. As one of the largest private game reserve in southern Africa, Mashatu is, at 25 000 ha (75 000 acres), a fitting setting for the world’s largest land mammal (the elephant) - with the largest herds on privately owned land on earth. Mashatu also provides sanctuary to the world’s tallest mammal (the giraffe); the world’s largest antelope (the eland); the world’s largest bird (the ostrich) and of course, the world’s heaviest flying bird (the kori bustard). Add the lion, the king of the beasts and the iconic baobab - and you have Africa’s Big Seven.

Day 9

International flight

After breakfast you will be transferred back to the Limpopo Valley Airfield in time for your scheduled flight back to Lanseria. A complimentary road transfer has been arranged to take you back to OR Tambo International Airport. This is the end of the safari. When travelling to Johannesburg from Mashatu on the scheduled Angel Gabriel flight it is strongly advised that international connecting flights to not be booked before 20:00.

Greg du Toit

In a world populated with excellent wildlife and nature photographers, some stand a little to the side with their own view and a completely different style of imagery. When those images take the world by storm, with exhibitions in the National Geographic Store, London and in Connecticut, USA, people start to take notice.

We look forward to hosting you!
