Green Season at Mashatu Game Reserve

The first of our Mashatu Green Season Workshops was hosted over the first few days of March by Trevor Kleyn and Janet Kleyn.

The group of seven photographers on the four-day workshop were treated to great sightings set in the unique Mashatu landscape, especially beautiful this time of the year.

Sightings included 100s of elephants which have recently returned to Mashatu to feast on the new foliage after the rainy season.  Large family groups were found throughout the reserve many bringing their tiny new babies to Mashatu for the first time.

No visit to Mashatu would be complete without good sightings of all three cats – leopard, lion and cheetah and this was no exception.  The highlight for some being the cheetah on a kill and for others the three adorable lion cubs.

Photographic opportunities weren’t limited to these though; there was a large family of jackals, many plains game some with young ones and yet another highlight, two giraffes looking elegant in a fierce duel. All of these workshop attendees were keen birders and no opportunity was lost to photograph birds as well.

These workshops are designed to get photographers into the best areas to ‘get the shots’. Here is where you take your wildlife photography from ‘good’ to ‘great’. By learning the tips, techniques and methods of taking great wildlife images with professional photographers, you will gain great insight and knowledge while improving your wildlife photography. Why not join us on our Mashatu Photo Workshop 2020?
